Pirkey Barber senior counsel Joshua J. Burke recently participated in a panel discussion at the International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting in San Diego. The session, titled “Delivering Exceptional Client Experience and Service: Being Attuned to Client Needs and Expectations,” focused on how trademark professionals can better align their services with evolving client needs.
Josh joined moderator Janice Bereskin (Smart & Biggar) and fellow speakers Ali Buttars (OpenAI), Alicia Lloreda (Lloreda Camacho & Co), and Nikkya Williams (Stability AI) for a thoughtful conversation about building trust and delivering consistent, value-driven service. The discussion covered several key themes, including the importance of clear, jargon-free communication, staying available during critical moments, and providing steady, business-minded guidance in times of crisis.
Drawing on two decades of experience as in-house counsel at General Mills, Josh shared a powerful point: “At the end of the day, we’re all trying to do the same thing—help the client’s business succeed.”
That principle reflects Pirkey Barber’s long-standing approach to client service. Over the years, many of our client relationships have grown into decades-long partnerships. This continuity allows our team to provide strategic, practical advice rooted in a deep understanding of each client’s business priorities. As a result, we’re able to support long-term, evolving goals—not just individual matters.
