Pirkey Barber PLLC is pleased to announce that attorneysAnna Kuhnand Travis Wimberly have been named as its latest members effective January 1, 2019.
For 20 years, Anna Kuhn’s practice has focused on trademark selection and clearance, U.S. and international trademark registration, rights policing and enforcement, and domain name and internet issues. She represents clients in registration matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and handles disputes including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and domain name arbitrations. Her work includes negotiating license agreements, performing due diligence for trademarks involved in corporate transactions, and advising clients concerning copyright issues and rights of publicity. Ms. Kuhn’s clients span a wide variety of industries and stages of development, as she frequently represented start-up companies while running her own trademark law practice for six years. Her background also includes working as in-house trademark counsel for a Fortune 100 company.
Ms. Kuhn earned her J.D. from the Yale Law School in 1996. Before law school, she graduated with high honors from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in government. She serves on the Pro Bono Committee for the International Trademark Association. She is also a member of the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association, Austin Bar Association, and a fellow at the Texas Bar Foundation.
Travis Wimberly has extensive knowledge in the fields of trademark and copyright law, and he also handles licensing and other IP-related contracts and negotiations. He advises clients on building their IP portfolios, developing enforcement strategies, and policing of infringements. Mr. Wimberly represents clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters, including federal court litigation and proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Prior to joining Pirkey Barber, he worked at the Austin office of Vinson & Elkins for four years. Before entering private practice, Mr. Wimberly served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard C. Tallman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Wimberly earned his J.D. with High Honors from The University of Texas School of Law, where he was Keeper of the Peregrinus for the Chancellors, awarded for having the fourth-highest grade-point average after second year. He also served as an Articles Editor on the Texas Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Before law school, Mr. Wimberly graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film. He is a member of the Honorable Lee Yeakel’s Inn of Court, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Austin Bar Association, and the American Bar Association’s IP Section.
