In the 2022 edition of Chambers and Partners, Pirkey Barber again earned rankings that place the firm and seven of its attorneys among the best IP law practitioners in Texas and across the United States. Each year, Chambers and Partners, one of the world’s most widely respected legal publications, identifies leading practitioners and law firms in the U.S. and worldwide through thousands of interviews with attorneys and clients. Criteria for selection include recommendations by clients, third-party experts, the attorney’s visibility in their area of law, and the volume, complexity, and size of work undertaken.
Founding members Lou Pirkey and Bill Barber both earned national recognition in the Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright, & Trade Secrets category.
Lou stands out as only one of three individuals with a Band 1 ranking in the United States. Chambers praises Lou’s “stellar reputation for his long standing expertise,” and one interviewee describes him as “top of the field, an exceptional attorney.” Lou is also the only individual ranked as a Senior Statesperson in Texas.
Bill Barber is one of only thirteen individuals with a Band 2 ranking in the same category nationwide. Chambers describes him as an “expert in the trademark space” and interviewees comment that Bill is a “class act” and “marvelous lawyer.” Bill is also one of only three individuals ranked in Band 1 in Texas.
Alicia Morris Groos, Chris Kindel, Shannon Vale, Steve Meleen, and Wendy Larson are five of only eleven attorneys ranked in Band 3 of the Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright, & Trade Secrets (Texas) category.
Additionally, Pirkey Barber is one of only two firms ranked in Band 1 of the Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright, & Trade Secrets (Texas) category, and one of six firms ranked in Band 2 of the Intellectual Property (Texas) category.
