Pirkey Barber PLLC is pleased to announce that Daniela Rojas, a Foreign Legal Consultant, and Clay LaPoint a lateral Associate have joined our team.
Dani Rojas focuses her trademark practice on advising clients regarding worldwide trademark protection and enforcement strategies for international and national brand owners. In her almost twenty years’ experience, she has managed domestic and international trademark portfolios across a wide variety of industries, while practicing in Spain, Venezuela, and the U.S. She has coordinated foreign trademark filings in over 100 countries for Fortune 100 and 500 companies and has assisted with the clearance of global trademarks and the management of global portfolios. She is adept at negotiating licensing and co-existence agreements, performing due diligence, and conducting strategic reviews of acquisitions. She has experience advising clients regarding domain name disputes, advertisement issues, and copyright matters.
Dani received her law degree from Universidad Catolica “Andrés Bello” in Caracas, Venezuela. She also holds two L.L.M. degrees, the first from Universidad de Alicante in Spain in Intellectual Property and Information Society, and the second from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law-Yeshiva University, in New York in Intellectual Property and International law. Dani is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She is currently the Chair of the Unreal Campaign Committee for the International Trademark Association and is the serving as the U.S. Delegate for the Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Intelectual.
Clay LaPoint focuses on trademark, copyright, and trade secrets law. His trademark practice includes policing, litigation and assisting clients in the selection, clearance, and registration of U.S. and international trademarks. Clay frequently represents clients in federal courts and in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He also has experience advising clients regarding domain name and Internet issues, including cybersquatting, domain name disputes, and brand protection challenges involving social media platforms.
Clay earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was a National Finalist for the 2014 New York National Moot Court Competition and recipient of numerous moot court and legal writing awards. Prior to law school, Clay graduated from The University of Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History.
