At last month’s 2019 American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., our very own Lou Pirkey received the AIPLA Board of Director’s Excellence Award. You can see the video created by the AIPLA to honor Lou for his many years of service below.
Individuals in attendance to help celebrate Lou’s honor included United States District Judges Alan Albright and Lee Yeakel, Deputy Chief Administrative Trademark Judge Mark Thurmon, as well as many other close friends, colleagues, and family members. The Board of Director’s Excellence Award is the AIPLA’s highest award and is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions fostering intellectual property law.
Lou has specialized in trademark law, primarily trademark infringement litigation and counseling, for more than 50 years. He is undeniably one of our country’s most highly recognized authorities in this important legal discipline. Lou has been heralded as a “legend the field” and “a groundbreaking trademark lawyer undoubtedly practicing at the highest level” (World Trademark Review 1000). America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, a Chambers publication, refers to him as “the guru” who is “widely recognized as one of the leading trademark litigators in the country.”
We are proud to see the 2019 Excellence Award added to Lou’s ever-increasing collection of honors bestowed upon him over many years of practice and dedication to service.
