Theresa D. Waltos

With more than two decades of Trademark prosecution experience, Theresa Waltos has developed a sharp eye for domestic and international trademark portfolio management and has gained the ability to understand the needs of the client in order to provide the information needed to manage their portfolio in an expedient and efficient manner.

As a paralegal who has quickly built a successful career path, Theresa assists many lawyers at Pirkey Barber PLLC in trademark prosecution and policing matters. Her previous paralegal positions at respected major firms and her corporate experience at Electrolux North America have given her the skills to master the ever-changing trademark world. She has assisted attorneys and clients with portfolios of various sizes, from 1 to 3000 trademarks. She particularly enjoyed her work on the SUGARPOVA trademark portfolio and found excitement in sampling their products as well!

Theresa has worked in various legal fields and chose to pursue her career in Trademark Law due to the complexity and ever-changing daily work. She has over 19 years in the field of Intellectual Property Law and has worked in almost every aspect of Trademark Law. She is exceptionally experienced in domestic and international portfolio management, maintenance, and prosecution. In addition, Theresa assists with the preparation and filing of US and international trademark applications, trademark prosecution, trademark searching/clearance, trademark renewals and policing enforcement matters. Further, using her extensive knowledge of computer systems and software, Theresa is certain to assist attorneys and clients with meeting their deadlines with ease.

Theresa is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She earned her Paralegal Certificate in 2008 from IPlegalED.

Theresa has trained her Golden Retriever “Pennie Mae” to be a Therapy Dog with Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs and has been an active volunteer with Hospice of the Western Reserve, mostly dedicating her time visiting patients in their last days, comforting family members and offering Notary services for last-minute end of life documents. In addition, she is also involved in volunteering at various Senior Living centers where she and Pennie Mae visit and provide the residents with joy, comfort, and laughter. Theresa is also currently being trained to become an Auxiliary Police Officer in her city contributing volunteer hours to the community and Police Department. In addition, she enjoys spending time with her mom, daughters, and their families, especially her one-year-old grandson.
