Emily Poole
Emily Poole advises clients ranging from startups to global corporations on trademark, copyright, and unfair competition matters. Her practice spans domestic and international trademark clearance, registration, portfolio management, policing, enforcement, and negotiations. Before joining Pirkey Barber, she practiced at an established trademark and copyright boutique in San Francisco. Having lived, worked, and traveled across six continents, Emily brings a global perspective and practical approach to helping clients protect and strengthen their brands.
Emily helps clients build, manage, and protect their trademark portfolios worldwide. Her practice includes domestic and international trademark clearance, registration, and protection strategies, as well as negotiations, oppositions, and other disputes across jurisdictions. She manages a substantial docket of trademark enforcement matters around the world and also advises on copyright, unfair competition, and online intellectual property issues. Her clients range from startups to global corporations across industries including software and technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, personal care and cosmetics, hospitality, food and beverage, apparel, and entertainment.
A native Austinite, Emily spent several years in the Bay Area before joining Pirkey Barber’s Austin office in 2018. She previously practiced at a trademark and copyright boutique in San Francisco and remains active in the legal community through the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association (Austin IPLA), the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).
Emily earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law and her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature, cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin.
Outside the office, she can often be found training for a marathon or at a playground with her kids.
