Emily Poole
Meet Emily Poole, a highly experienced attorney with a focus on trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law. Her expertise includes advising startups to large corporations on domestic and international clearance, registration, portfolio management, as well as trademark policing, enforcement, and negotiations. Before joining Pirkey Barber, she practiced at a long-established trademark and copyright specialty firm in San Francisco. She’s worked, lived, and traveled in countries spanning six continents – her global exposure and legal acumen make her a dynamic force in the field.
Emily concentrates on global trademark portfolio management, including domestic and international trademark clearance, registration, and protection strategies. She also oversees domestic and multi-jurisdictional trademark negotiations and disputes, including oppositions. She directs scores of trademark enforcement matters worldwide, and also has experience with copyright, unfair competition, and online-related IP law. Emily advises clients of all sizes, from startups to large corporations, and in a broad range of industries, including software and technology, biotech research and development, pharmaceuticals, personal care and cosmetics, hospitality, food and beverage, apparel, and entertainment, among others.
Emily is a native Austinite but spent several years in in the Bay Area before joining Pirkey Barber’s Austin office in 2018. Emily is involved in the national and local legal communities, including the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association (Austin IPLA), INTA, and the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity (LCLD).
Prior to joining Pikey Barber, Emily practiced at a trademark and copyright boutique in San Francisco. Emily earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature, cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of the office, Emily is often training for a marathon or at a playground with her kids.
